L'Arc~en~Ciel: Bravery
01.04.03
Artist: L'Arc~en~Ciel Title: Bravery Words: Tetsu Music: Tetsu Even if you go over all those cryptic things we said, you won't get to the truth. Always being kind won't protect us, Just by telling the truth won't mean you'll understand. The feeling under those forced smiles will never show in a photograph. "don't ever tell us, don't destroy it like that" Well this is the world you all wanted. don't go off and say "they were better before" What do you know of what it was like in that glimmering time. And your one track mind doesn't understand what it's like to have a wound that won't go away. clinging to a false reality they run away and feel betrayed. We're not like you've imagined you know, It's just a world you all made up. you'll say that "they used to be good" what's come to be reflected deep in your eyes? you may say you can see it all now but only looking at the surface what can you know of it? the truth will never be shared to anyone. who cares if you come, who cares if you look. just don't get in our way, cause this is what we decided. don't go off and say "they were better before" What could you know of what it was like in that glimmering time. stop already, saying only mean things if the road we choose is a mistake,... we won't be around anymore you have no bravery to know the truth you will help us we will help you. Translated By: Brian Stewart & Takako Sakuma Translator's Notes: This seems to be common knowledge among fans but for those of you who don't know this song is Testsu's critique of die-hard old school Larc fans. He's saying "stop saying oh I like their older (Tierra, Heavenly, Dune) era music better, they just aren't very good now" or "I miss Sakura". In the song he expresses, "what gives you the right to assume that you know who we are and what it was like for us? Most of you weren't even listening to our old music back then anyway." He's saying "if you don't like what we're doing now, then stop buying our music and coming to our concerts." Very controversial song. Fans are pretty divided about how they feel about it. Though a lot seem to think Testsu's sweet for writing it. Whatever. Let's go through this one section by section... The first section is obviously about how, you can't know larc just by what you read about them in magazines or the pictures you see. Then he critiques the fans for being delusional saying that they really don't wanna know the truth because they have made up their own image of what it was like. The next section deals with what could possibly be a reference to Sakura their former drummer who left the band (was kicked out) over drug abuse problems which threatened their careers back before they released Niji. The problems they had with Sakura etc...could very well be the "unhealing wound" tetsu refers to. Continuing along those lines, tetsu then criticizes the fans for romanticizing everything, for creating wild stories about Sakura and Larc that for all intents and purposes exist only within the minds of the fans and never were part of the reality of the band. the last section is just sort of a big "buzz off" to people that wanna still listen to Larc but not grow and change with them. Its like, "hey, if you don't like what we're doing stop supporting us!" "It was never your decision what we did anyway..." I guess you can see why Larc tends not to play this one in concert. Is that last line, like "we won't be mad, and you won't be bitter" ? By the way Iyashinai.. isn't "not heal" it means something like "there is no such" Romaji To Be Added Romaji By: Brian Stewart |
