Artist: Fra-FoaTitle: Kimi ha Warau, Soshite Shizuka ni Nemuru (You Laugh, and then Quietly Slumber) Words: Mikami Chisako Music: Mikami Chisako You slumber, your cheeks turn rosy you laugh, Can you see something? I swim. Feeling that I'm going to get buried in the pointless everyday tedium but, we're looking for hope in the shiny morning sky. Is there anything left for me to do? ah a second goes by without any sound at all ah we're still looking for something, (though we haven't found it) we were born given the same ammount of time you know, as we shine, we grow closer to dying... but, as i look at my wings falling off as they get dirty I dream of clean ones. when did I start to be able to fool myself so well? "there's nothing for me..." I'd use words like those to run away but, I'll find my moment to shine. even if we could see a shadow in the light before us we'd spread our dirty wings and fly to the end. if along the way, my body becomes useless even if we couldn't make it all the way, that will and effort have value. hey, I can't fly anymore. my wings have broken. they say when you fall, you just keep falling forever... but if someday I see something it seems I can grab onto I'll reach out my hands, it won't matter if I fall here and now, if I can leave something for you. Translated By: Brian Stewart & Takako Sakuma Translator's Notes: One of the word choices we used may be debatable. Because we used dirty we decided to pair it with clean. Mikami sings kirei but the kanji is jyunsui the latter meaning pure as opposed to clean. However we liked the sound of clean with the word wings. It has a more visceral feel. The line about "we were born given the same ammount of time you know, as we shine, we grow closer to dying..." certainly sounds like she is comparing our lives to that of stars, or fires. very beautiful. I think when she says her descension will have been worth it if she can leave something for "you", she means if by falling she has left something for you to grab. This song like "shimiwataru sora sono mukou ni boku ga mita mono" seems to be about her life as a singer and how very much it means to her. Romaji To Be Added Romaji By: Brian Stewart |
