Janne Da Arc: Messiah
01.05.17
Artist: Janne Da ArcTitle: Messiah Words: Yasu Music: Yasu The corrupted peace and order in full bloom just raped by the plunder. Has this land, stained by blood, been abandoned by god? The people overtaken by the famine, even lose the means to protest. they just disappear into the flames of an endless war. standing in the wasteland blown by the raging wind, a young girl looks up to the sky, making the sign of the cross across her petit chest. As she kneels on the earth, she kisses whispering, "I swear to you now, in the name of that god..." the gathering soldiers saw in that little girl a goddess, and found hope, they got over the death of their comrades, and headed for Olean. Following after the voice of god, the girl led this land to liberation, making the sign of the cross across her petit chest. the front line a battle of brother against brother, tears wiped with a blade, this holy war that brought victory and glory. Messiah... she's made a miracle Messiah... "I swear in the name of god Messiah... I will bring an end to the war" Messiah... Her name is janne d'Arc The war has ended, the ruler that turned on her when her usefulness was gone they got rid of her, the world is still that way. Long ago they praised her as a saint, Now they treat her as a witch. they accuse her of assuming the name of god falsely, and they send her to the stake, her oath becomes a prayer asking god "what is the just thing to do?" Messiah... she's made a miracle Messiah... her body bathed in blood Messiah... bringing an end to the war.... Messiah... Her name is Janne d'Arc... Translated By: Brian Stewart & Takako Sakuma Translator's Notes: Z-Hard is Janne Da Arc's rock n roll way of writing the word Jihad which is an Islamic holy war against unbelievers. I think the song is rather critical of the fact that this young girl gave her life and her love to ending the war and then had the whole world turn against her and her efforts. There is a word for "assuming the name of god falsely" its something like idolater, or heretic, or false prophet. However it's been awhile since CCD classes (Catholic Christian Doctrine or Central City Dump which ever you prefer). We're not sure if perhaps the word blood should be used in the translation of "chi de chi wo arau tatakai", which is like a civil war. The song didn't mention the stake, it said "gallows" but I think this was a technical error by Yasu, since Janne D'arc was burned alive at the stake. We have fixed his error. As for the petit chest.. it was the best way I could describe underdeveloped, without sounding dirty. It just means she was still a girl. Romaji To Be Added Romaji By: Brian Stewart |
