I READ THE NEWS TODAY OH BOY

So what's this about the depression of 17 year olds?
We're quick to say "coincidence", but maybe there's really no reason.
How should we deal with it... If I were the victim's family,
I'd take an eye for an eye.

They say that you become an adult by hurting others and getting hurt.
it's survival of the fittest, following my instincts
light my fire.

the thickness of their inner pockets swelling out, *1
the police are in a rush to re-establish their honor.
There's nobody for young kids to lookup to,
if you wanna see the snow go to Siberia. *2

The law, the government, society, religion, the sergeant general,
not only this but god, money.
Ask yourself which you need
The recession, the incident yesterday,
the disgust of my former girlfriend, the struggling of the president whose even forgotten our songs *3,
KISS MY ASS.

a space we can't add a musical note, a feeling you make yourself
the heroes of our generation in resonance, unspoiled life in the wild

The Japanese People crazy over 2000,
Japanese boys even without swords
dreaming that majestic japanese girls are living amongst them.

the net brimming over with information, keep your own place
put your talent up for collateral to get one step closer to your
dreams
in a rush til you die, reading way too much! YEAH!

This is all we can we stand! We're ready to go from here on out!
Enturst our countless memories to you, and blow up the old GLAY!

a space we can't add a musical note, a feeling you make yourself
the heroes of our generation in resonance, unspoiled life in the wild

Translator's Notes: *s!

* 1 - The line "the thickness of their inner pockets swelling out." means they have been taking too many bribes thus lining the inside pocket of their coats with dirty money.

* 2 - Perhaps the reference to "if you wanna see the snow try Siberia." is a vague reference to Hokkaido's famous prison "Abashiri" which gets very cold. THe line is telling kids that rather than end up in jail, it would be better to go directly to Siberia where it's cold. We're not entierly sure but this is our best guess.

* 3 - "The president whose forgotten our song" is likely in reference to the president of Glay's label or distribution. Since the record industry is in such trouble, to forget the song of a band that helped you through it is a "kiss my ass" worthy offense.
