Title: Sora, Hoshi, Umi No Yoru (A Night Sky, Stars and Sea)
Words: The Back Horn
Music: The Back Horn

I woke up to find that I had fallen down to
the abyss of night inside a pitch black room

The soft blurry light
a mundane* dream
Before I knew it I had fallen sound asleep

The lights of the town bloomed
The silhouettes of
the lost kids burned into the road home

I sit down and nestle up next to them
And sing so they can make it through another day

The crazy wind is
crying
The shadows of buildings
used to constant change
Just spitting out stuff
like "Be strong"
I feel my heart
growing impure

You reach out to
the night sky
as if you could really
touch it
When that feeling
finally dies
and withers all away
My song will die

Longing for those
smiling faces
My summer spirit always thinking about how
I wish these times would never end
That feeling disappeared under the transparent rain

If adjusting just means
kindness
and the strength needed
to forgive
We joined hands so
we wouldn't forget
Could you fly if I
let go right now?

The night
sky,
stars, and sea
Living on the edge,
burning with desire
This is
how
I'm gonna live
If you wish hard enough
My song will lead the way

The crazy wind is
crying
The shadows of buildings
used to constant change
Just spitting out stuff
like "Be strong"
I feel my heart
growing impure

You reach out to
the night sky
as if you could really
touch it
When that feeling
finally dies
and withers all away
The night
sky,
stars, and sea
Living on the edge
burning with desire
This is
how
I'm gonna live
If you wish hard enough
My song will lead the way

Translated By: Brian Dunn. I try to write the English so it flows along with the Japanese lyrics as much as possible, breaking the lines with the flow of the singing.

Translator's Note: Ukiyo -- I translated "Ukiyo no yume" as "a mundane dream." "Ukiyo" means "mundaneness; this life; human life; worldliness; fleeting life." It's the same "Ukiyo" as "Ukiyo-E," the color wood block prints of "glimpses of fleeting life."
