Let's start off with the *'s. *1 - the Japanese here uses the word rival but it sounded awkward in English so we've replaced it with any of 'em. *2 - this refers to the battle between girls getting heated, the kanji for this type of hot and the atmospheric hot are different. This is like fever hot! or this tea is TOO hot, hot. *3 - the Japanese here is senchi which is short slang for Sentimental, but was used much more in the eighties than it is today. Maybe it's making a comeback? *4 - we took some liberties with this line to keep it in line with the girlish feelings it expresses. the Japanese literally translates to something like "I might have an unexpected encounter" but what is implied is "with a cool guy" *5 - this line's nantokantoka ne which is spaced out, is different than the usage in the first melody. the Japanese refers to a proverb which translates roughly as "If you don't first begin something nothing can happen" (of course, right). The problem is the singer of the song has forgotten how the part after nasaneba... goes so she says "ummm yadda yadda" cause she doesn't know the rest. the title of the song uses meccha which is the Kansai dialect way of saying sugoi. (wow, super, very...) The reason we translated it as "Whatta" is because the song seems to be about looking forward to summer vacation, and all the great things that could happen. Like, "Whatta Holiday this'll be!" Alternative Titles... "Yeah! Super Holiday" "Yeah! Kick Ass Holiday!" hahaha. Forget that last one. Aya sings like an Old man on the verses of this song. Does that disturb any of you?
